Fraction Salad
Learn fractions by slicing vegetables, candies and different stirring speeds.
3D animations and sound effects.
Great as a game and great for learning fractions.
Academic part:
Each screen presents fractions with a different model: Fractions by cutting parts out of a bigger part, fractions by selecting parts out of multiple parts, selecting the right denominator, selecting the right numerator and fractions introduced to affect speed of stirring.
Comparing fractions, smaller and bigger, comparing equivalent fractions, mixed fractions with whole numbers and much more.
As you play, the game becomes more challenging.
screen 1 - Kids learn: the denominator is the total parts of a whole.
e.g.: 1/2 means to divide the whole into 2 parts.
screen 2 - Kids practice again the role of the denominator and in addition they learn that the numerator is the number of the selected parts in a whole.
screen 3 - The whole is other than 1, e.g.: 4, 6, 8.
Understand what is a fraction of a number, e.g.: 1/2 of 8
Learn how to calculate the lowest terms of fractions.
screen 4 - Compare between fractions, where the numerators are the same.
Compare between fractions, where the denominators are the same.
Equivalent fractions.
Lowest terms of fractions.
Fractions bigger than 1.
Mixed numbers with fractions.
